316-L Stainless Steel Construction
All wet components on BioSAFE / WR² Tissue Digestors™ are constructed of 316-L stainless steel. Even the vessel skid and plumbing chassis are made of stainless steel. It is the goal of BioSAFE Engineer to provide systems that will last many years. BioSAFE even offers super-austenitic or duplex stainless steel for vessels that may be exposed to excessive chlorides and harmful acids.

ASME Certified Pressure Vessels and Welders
All vessels are ASME certified to 100 psig or greater operating pressure. During the BioSAFE / WR² Tissue Digestion process, the vessel will operate at less than 60 psig. BioSAFE engineers have incorporated several redundant safety features to ensure that the vessel will never overpressure. This includes a series of pressure sensors and transducers that send real-time pressure data to the PLC as well as a mechanical pop-off pressure release. BioSAFE's stainless pipe welds are the strongest and best looking welds in the industry. All of our pipe welders are ASME Certified and receive ongoing training to perfect their skills.

Fast Heating and Cooling
BioSAFE Engineering introduces live steam injection to the WR² Tissue Digestor™ for units 48 inches in diameter and larger. This dramatically speeds the heating process where time is of the essence. The new process consumes the steam condensate into the product.

BioSAFE Engineering offers internal coil heating for Tissue Digestor™ units. This feature provides faster and more efficient heating and cooling while preserving condensate to be returned to the boiler. Our research has revealed that not only do the vessels heat and cool faster, but the vessel life expectancy is dramatically improved and corrosion resistance is increased. Coils are easy and inexpensive to replace further reducing the long-term cost of ownership.

Energy Reduction
BioSAFE Engineering offers cooling water recovery tanks for Tissue Digestor™ units 48 inches in diameter and larger. The recovery tank saves heated water from the cooling process and uses it for rinse and fill water, resulting in considerable water conservation and energy savings.

pH Control by CO₂ injection
BioSAFE Engineering offers a pH reduction system that uses CO₂ injection to lower effluent pH and incorporates a small amount of hydrogen peroxide for odor control. This system is now available on all new Tissue Digestor models and is available as a retrofit for existing units. This enhancement is ideal in meeting regulatory requirements of effluent pH below 10.5.

User Friendly Siemens Controls
The entire BioSAFE Engineering product line is now equipped with easy-to-use Siemens controls. This gives the user a touch screen that displays all current data and detailed steps throughout the process. BioSAFE is able to monitor your system and make program changes from the Indianapolis headquarters, allowing the customer to receive immediate assistance.

Large Capacity Tissue Digestor™

Ideal for all animals up to and including large horses, large cows, most zoo animals, pathologic waste, and anatomic waste.
Ideal for veterinary schools, pharmaceutical companies, research facilities, university and medical school animal facilities, colleges of agriculture, and government agencies.
Fully automatic lid closure system. Available on 30â€ through 48â€ models and standard on 72â€ through 96â€ models.

Versatile Application Tissue Digestors™
Human Cadaver Water Resolution Unit BioSAFE Engineering now offers a Tissue Digestor specifically designed for the respectful disposition of human cadavers in medical education and funeral homes. 350 lb (159 kg) tissue processing capacity. Fully automated Siemens PLC control system and touch screen. Ideal for funeral homes, research facilities, and medical schools. Coil heating is standard for fast heating and cooling and long vessel life. Custom sizes are available. Mobile units are available. CO₂ pH reduction system is available.
Double-Door Pass-Through Tissue Digestors for Bio-Containment BioSAFE / WR²recently completed two large pass-through Tissue Digestors for use in bio-containment facilities (BSL-3 or 4). The animals are loaded in containment and the residues are removed out of containment. These cutting-edge Tissue Digestors are available in vertical or horizontal configurations and in many different forms that can be customized to any bio-containment application. Horizontal units can also double as gas chambers and/or prevac steam sterilizers. Large units can handle effluents, large animal bedding, and carcasses all in one processor.
EDS/Tissue Digestor Combo Units BioSAFE Engineering has recognized a recent demand for systems with both EDS and Tissue Digestion capability to accommodate facilities who have multiple needs. This enables facilities with smaller lab demands and smaller lab budgets to realize the benefits of both systems. EDS/Tissue Digestor systems are now available for purchase. These systems have been thoroughly tested, installed, and are currently being used in customer locations around the world.
Mass Disposal Tissue Digestor Systems BioSAFE / WR² has designed mobile mass disposal systems for disaster relief. These systems are available in multiple configurations and capacities up to 1.5 million lbs per day and are the safest way to dispose of extremely large quantities of carcasses, including all TSE infected tissue. Bedding Treatment BioSAFE Engineering offers bedding treatment systems for your entire animal bedding sterilization and disposal needs. These systems break the bedding down and expose it to high temperature steam for an extended period of time. Many sizes are available.
