STI Medical Waste Treatment Systems for Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) - Features and Benefits

Features Benefits
Non-burn technology that uses low pressure steam to achieve high level disinfection. Environmentally friendly, no release of dioxins or VOC’s.
Continuous automated process able to operate 24 hours per day. Waste can be processed immediately with no need for large intermediate storage areas.

More energy efficient than batch processes.

No requirement for a dedicated operator.

Integrated, heavy duty shredding system.

Small, controlled waste particle size eliminates any potential “cold spots” and ensures all waste is subjected to disinfection conditions.

End product is unrecognizable, dry, confetti-like material ready for landfill disposal.

Volume reduction of up to 90%

The STI Medical Waste Treatment System exceeds STAATT II treatment levels widely recognized as the global standard for alternative treatment technologies. System is globally accepted and approved.
Systems are available in a variety of sizes, treating waste capacities from 300 pounds per hour up to 4,000 pounds per hour. Suitable for small facilities and large commercial applications.
System automatically records and archives temperature and time, providing parametric validation and printable electronic copies of process data.

Spore test hatch situated below the shredder allows for the introduction of challenge spores in a plastic container. This container is easily collected at the end of the process allowing for simple microbial validation of the system.

Simple, reliable system validation.
Stainless steel, weatherproof models available.

Patented odor control system allows simplifies indoor operation.

System can be located indoors or outdoors.
System is designed to accept waste directly from carts so there is no manual loading required.

Fully automated Siemens touch screen and PLC allows operator to push button and walk away.

System incorporates negative air pressure and HEPA filtration to prevent the escape of any airborne pathogens from hopper or shredder.

User friendly, safe operation.
Integral initial shredding and specialized steam injection ports allow for energy efficient operation and provide a high level of disinfection of waste, using only low pressure steam (<15psig).

Moisture is automatically removed in the distal part of the system which minimized weight to further reduce landfill costs.

Minimizes operating costs.
US EPA/FIFRA approved and state approved. Easy approval for installation.

The STI Medical Waste System has all the attributes and none of the drawbacks of existing products on the market. The first STI System was installed in August of 1995. The combined systems have processed over 800,000,000 lbs. of regulated medical waste, infectious waste, and medical waste. The residue from the STI System is safe, generally classified as municipal waste, and ready for landfill disposal.
