Effluent Decontamination Systems (EDS)

With the increased development of Biosafety Level 3 and 4 laboratories, and other biocontainment facilities to carry on research on agents that might be used in bioterrorism and to develop responses to such agents, there is an increased need to protect the public from the agents used in the laboratories. To that end, all liquid effluent from such facilities should be sterilized before being released to a sanitary sewer.

WR2 has adapted its proprietary technologies to the development and installation of Effluent Decontamination Systems (EDS) capable of sterilizing all liquid effluent from such facilities. Effluent Decontamination Systems can be sized for any facility from a single laboratory room to a large multi-user facility.

Recently, an EDS was installed in Ireland, shown above, and at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) in Washington, DC, shown below.
